infernal twinblades & Mortal rope dart

By azesus

Introduction

Azesus is one of Southeast Asia’s strongest Infernal Twinblades and Mortal Rope Dart players, known for his unpredictable movement, creative mix-ups, and ability to shift seamlessly between defensive control and explosive offense.

He helped popularize the use of unlocked Twinblades Q, using its twirling movement to approach from unusual angles, catch opponents off guard, and create openings that many players are unprepared to defend against. Combined with the flexibility and control of Mortal Rope Dart, his playstyle remains extremely difficult to read.

During the Corrupted Cup Main Event, Azesus eliminated every fellow competitor from his country, showcasing the strength of his build, his adaptability under pressure, and why he is considered one of the region’s most dangerous players

Breaking point

Vendetta

turns your Twinblade light-attack chain into a debuff stacking system that shreds defenses and, through breakthroughs, grants powerful damage buffs, utility buffs, crit boosts, and cooldown resets as you progress

gives a reliable, stacking buff that increases damage, and through breakthroughs it adds penetration, scaling attack power, stronger effects versus CC’d enemies, crit bonus, and extra damage/heals at max stacks

rewards critting enemies in Spirit Depletion by giving stacking buffs: each stack adds Physical Penetration and Critical Damage for a short time. Breakthroughs makes the buff last longer, add Precision Rate, let you gain stacks more easily on Exhausted enemies, raise the stack cap, add Direct Crit Rate, and at max tier give full stacks after a Perfect Dodge on a cooldown.

This breakthrough greatly improves the Rats’ pressure, damage, and sustain. It speeds up Token of Gratitude recovery, extends Vendetta Token duration, adds Rodent Hunt delayed burst damage, increases Physical Attack and Penetration, and makes marked-target attacks deal more damage while reducing the enemy’s healing effectiveness.

Build Overview

Playstyle: TEMPO BASED
Difficulty: EASY-Medium
Strengths: mind games, BURSTY WITH VENDETTA, INTERCHANGEABLE TEMPO
Weaknesses: LINEAR GAMEPLAN

Why This Build Works

This build is heavily tempo-based, allowing the player to shift between a defensive and offensive playstyle depending on the situation. Defensively, Mortal Rope Dart provides access to Rope Charge for Tenacity and healing, while Divine Counter and the Rats can pressure the opponent, drain Qi, and force them to engage.

Once the opponent becomes impatient or overcommits, the build can quickly switch into offense. Mortal Rope Dart can pull the target in, apply Vendetta, and create an opening for a high-damage burst after swapping into Infernal Twinblades.

The build is extremely effective at forcing interaction. If the opponent refuses to engage, Rope Charge can recover health while the Rats continue applying pressure and draining Qi. However, the build is also highly punishable. A single mistake while Serene is unavailable can result in a complete one-hundred-to-zero sequence, immediately forcing the player into their second life.

Once the build gains momentum, Fury can be used to enter an enraged state, providing Tenacity and overwhelming damage pressure. In some matches, direct interaction may barely be required, as the Rats can repeatedly drain the opponent’s Qi and create execution opportunities.

A major strength of the build is its unpredictability. Rope pulls, Twinblades Q, and unlocked-camera Twinblades Q can all be used to catch opponents off guard. By changing the direction of the spinning attack, the player can approach from unexpected angles and create openings that are difficult to read.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

STRENGTHS

This build has exceptional tempo control and can comfortably transition between defense and offense. It has strong sustain through Rope Charge, reliable Tenacity access, powerful Qi-draining pressure through the Rats, and high burst potential through Vendetta and Infernal Twinblades.

It can force opponents to engage rather than allowing them to play passively, while also punishing overaggression with Divine Counter, Rope Dart control, and sudden offensive transitions.

Once Fury is active, the build becomes extremely difficult to interrupt, gaining strong Tenacity and enough damage pressure to quickly overwhelm defensive opponents.

WEAKNESSES

The build is highly dependent on decision-making and defensive cooldown management.

Its strongest offensive transitions require careful timing. Predictable Rope pulls, poorly timed Twinblades Q usage, or unnecessary aggression can allow the opponent to punish the player before the build establishes momentum.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

HIGH SUSTAINABILITY AND STRONG SHIELD UPTIME
EXCELLENT DAMAGE TRADING POTENTIAL
HEAVY PUNISHES AGAINST OVER-AGGRESSIVE PLAYERS
STRONG OFFENSIVE PRESSURE AFTER A SUCCESSFUL DEFENSE
DIVINE COUNTER CAN QUICKLY SHIFT THE MOMENTUM OF A FIGHT
DURABLE AND FORGIVING IN EXTENDED EXCHANGES

Weaknesses

LIMITED MOBILITY AND CHASE POTENTIAL
CAN STRUGGLE AGAINST PLAYERS WHO REFUSE TO OVERCOMMIT
REQUIRES PATIENCE AND GOOD DEFENSIVE TIMING
PREDICTABLE SHIELD USAGE CAN BE BAITED OR DISENGAGED FROM
WEAKER WHEN FORCED TO CONSTANTLY PURSUE MOBILE OPPONENTS

PvP Strategy

To play this build effectively, the player must understand when to slow the match down and when to suddenly increase the pace. The defensive phase should focus on gaining Tenacity through Rope Charge, using Divine Counter to discourage predictable attacks, and allowing the Rats to drain Qi and create pressure.

The opponent should be forced to make the first meaningful commitment. Once they become impatient, move into range, or waste an important defensive option, the build can immediately transition into offense with a Rope pull, Vendetta application, Twinblades Q, or a weapon swap.

The build is strongest when the opponent is unsure whether the player will continue defending or suddenly commit to an aggressive sequence.

KEY PRINCIPLES

Use Rope Charge to maintain health, gain Tenacity, and force the opponent to approach.
Allow the Rats to apply continuous Qi pressure and create execution opportunities.
Use Divine Counter to punish predictable aggression and protect your defensive tempo.
Apply Vendetta before transitioning into Twinblades pressure to create the threat of a delayed burst.
Change between patient defensive play and sudden aggression to prevent the opponent from adapting.
Use unlocked-camera Twinblades Q to alter the direction of the spinning attack and catch opponents from unexpected angles.
Avoid committing recklessly while Serene is unavailable.

CORE GAMEPLAY LOOP

Begin by controlling the pace with Mortal Rope Dart, Rope Charge, Divine Counter, and Rat pressure.
Force the opponent to approach or risk losing health and Qi over time.
Wait for the opponent to overextend, waste a defensive option, or enter Rope Dart range.
Pull them in, apply Vendetta, and swap into Infernal Twinblades.
Use Twinblades Q, light attacks, and Fury pressure to maintain the offensive sequence.
If the opponent escapes or regains control, return to Rope Dart and rebuild the defensive advantage.
Once Fury becomes available, use the Tenacity and damage increase to force extended trades and maintain momentum.
The main objective is to keep control of the tempo, making the opponent engage on your terms before suddenly converting the defensive advantage into explosive offense.

Matchups

Strong Against:

The build performs very well against players who rely on passive defense, predictable aggression, or extended close-range pressure.
It is especially dangerous against opponents who allow the Rats to remain active, fail to manage their Qi, or repeatedly approach into Divine Counter and Rope Dart control.
It can also punish opponents who rely heavily on blocking or waiting, as Rope Charge healing and Rat pressure force them to eventually take action.

WEAK AGAINST

The build can struggle against opponents who CAN CONSISTENTLY BYPASS THE DEFENSIVE PROWESS BY USING TENACITY TO THEIR ADVANTAGE.
FANBRELLA AND NAMELESS SPEAR LEGION CRUSHER USERS CAN BYPASS CERTAIN ADVANTAGES THAT THIS BUILD PROVIDES.
THIS BUILD RELIES ALOT ON BEING ABLE TO CHARGE UP THE ROPE, SO BEING ABLE TO REMAIN COOL UNDER PRESSURE IS REQUIRED.

Tips to Master the Build

Learn to recognize when the opponent is becoming impatient and use that moment to transition from defense into offense.
Do not use Rope Charge only for healing. Its Tenacity is essential for creating safe offensive opportunities.
Practice unlocked-camera Twinblades Q so the spinning movement can be redirected and used from unexpected angles.
Avoid using every defensive tool at the same time. Serene, Divine Counter, and Rope Charge should be managed carefully so that at least one defensive option remains available.
Apply Vendetta before committing to major Twinblades pressure whenever possible.
Pay attention to the Rats and use their Qi pressure to create execution opportunities rather than forcing unnecessary direct engagements.
Use Fury when the opponent is already under pressure, allowing the Tenacity and damage increase to extend the offensive advantage.
The build rewards smart pacing above everything else. Knowing when to defend, when to force interaction, and when to suddenly commit is what allows it to reach its full potential.
